The list of things I can do for and with you includes:
meaningful copy editing to improve style and language, smooth transitions, and polish the entire text
substantive, “heavy” editing for structure, flow, and/or length
cleaning up manuscripts by non-native English speakers
assisting authors with the revise-and-resubmit process for academic journals
website editing and usability feedback
“translating” academic or professional writing into language and format accessible to laypeople
thought-partnering: interviewing writers, thinkers, and planners with work-in-process–listening, probing, recording, and feeding back my observations (all at once or in an iterative fashion, depending on the complexity of the work), often producing a document that forms the basis for a written piece, presentation, or other next steps
I generally do not do:
straight proofreading (although I will make any proofreading edits I notice are needed when I am doing more substantive editing)
copy editing specifically for the purpose of conforming your article or list of sources to a style sheet or guide
fiction or poetry editing
