About Me
For nearly 15 years, I’ve advised and collaborated with a wide range of writers and thinkers–helping shape their work for publication, presentation, and/or promulgation.
As a writer myself, I know and appreciate the importance of finding, preserving, and shaping one’s voice. As a former web editor, I have an eye for brevity of content and simplicity in presentation when that’s called for. As an experienced academic editor and the co-editor of a forthcoming anthology, I have the comfort with academic work that comes with having shepherded dozens of writers, thinkers, and teachers through the process of sharpening their ideas and writing for publication. As an ordained rabbi, I have particular expertise in matters Jewish, religious, and spiritual–and as a spiritual director, I know the value of patient and curious listening.
My role is often described as midwife, facilitator and thought partner as well as editor. I love taking a not-quite-finished written piece from good to great–polishing it, raising constructive questions, suggesting specific revisions. But the work I do with you can also help shape your thinking and planning even if you are not (or not yet) preparing anything for publication, but want to get clearer about what you’re doing–and what you want to be doing.
Other miscellaneous tidbits about me: I’ve dabbled in comedy improv and stand-up; sang for several years with a light opera company performing Gilbert and Sullivan operettas; and can tell virtually instantaneously how many letters there are in a word.
